Artist based in Switzerland
Sheila Toledo was born in Guipúzcoa, Basque Country in 1986 and grew up in Valencia, Spain. Between completing her degree at the Polytechnic University of Valencia UPV in Spain as a multidisciplinary artist in 2009, she completed an Erasmus scholarship in 2007 in the specialty of glass sculpture at the University of Art and Design Burg Giebichenstein Halle HKD, Germany. The artist also completed her Master's studies in Artistic Production at the UPV in 2010. However, her curiosity for glass, leads her to finish in 2014 her second Master at the University of Applied Sciences IKKG in the specialty of Concept and Glass in Koblenz, Germany.
The artist has lived and worked in Aargau since 2019. Since 2024 she has graduated with her Doctorate in Art and research.

Sheila Toledo's artistic work revolves around the concept and ideas of women's resilience in art. The artist, as a researcher and doctor in art, investigates the past and current complex conceptual aspects of the philosophy and psychology of women's daily life throughout history. She pays special attention to the social and cultural aspects. Likewise, the artist has the ability to use in her works with glass and mixed media materials in a prospective and active way, the interior of the psyche, analyzing the fragments, cracks, nooks and crannies of the mind. Thus presenting her pieces to the viewer as the gold sealing in the Kintsugi and showing the beauty of resilience and resistance of the psyche in today's society.
